Upcoming Presentations
Querying Traditional Publishing:
Traditional publishing makes prospective authors jump through a lot of hoops for even the chance of an editor looking at your story, and the process can often be confusing and discouraging. In this presentation, I break down the vital elements to constructing a query letter, synopsis, elevator pitch and more, using real-life successful examples from authors who have all signed with literary agents within the last two years, as well on touching on effective places to find reputable agents, tips on finding comp titles, and green and red flags to look out for before submitting your book. Dates and locations below.
November 5, 2025: Presented by the Victoria Writers’ Society, 7-8:30pm, at Russell Books, 747 Fort St., Victoria. Click here for more on the VWS.
November 20, 2025: Presented by the Sidney and North Saanich Writers Support Group, 5:30-7pm, at the Sidney/North Saanich Library, Nell Horth Room, 10091 Resthaven Drive, Sidney. Click here for more on the Sidney/North Saanich Writers Support Group.

Since 2021, it’s been my privilege to host writing workshops exploring topics like world-building, developing fully realized characters, writing flash fiction, and tapping into your inner well of creativity. It’s my firm belief that everyone can be a writer and everyone has something to say, and I strive to build a welcoming and encouraging and kind environment for everyone who attends.
Using exercises that utilize out-of-the-box thinking, my workshops provide fertile ground for new and original ideas and perspectives to grow, and every single group of writers I’ve led has surprised and enchanted me with the power of their writing that’s emerged. Each workshop is designed to be flexible for writers of all experience levels—from professionals with decades of experience to those who have never written more than grocery lists and emails—and we follow the group’s energy and ideas to ensure each participant gets what they need out of the afternoon.
