My fiction meanders across a wide range of themes and moods, and almost always includes fantastical elements, usually of the botanical variety. Most recently, my flash piece “Enough” is here at Idle Ink, and my poem “Gold in the Aftermath” is forthcoming in Clarion Magazine in early 2024.
As a freelancer and BCYCNA-winning journalist, I’ve written about artists, architecture, food and wine, travel and anything else that’s caught my eye. I specialize in finding the heart of the story, whatever that may be. I contribute regularly to a number of magazines in and around the Victoria, central Vancouver Island, Okanagan and Lower Mainland regions of BC.
Recent (or favourite) articles include: “Finding the Mountain,” “Good Taste: Finest At Sea,” “A Slice of Heaven with a lot of Heart,” “Beauty. Balance.,” “Hearth and Home,” “The Icing on the Cake,” and “Arthur Vickers: Artist, Technician and Master Storyteller.” I’ve also had the honour of writing the 2022 and 2023 retirement profiles for a number of St. Michaels University School’s faculty, published here.
As well as writing individual stories, I’ve worked with clients to create website and marketing content, product taglines and descriptions, a variety of internal policies, expansion proposals and more.
